The RA and RCC Boards, through a Joint Task Force, have been working together since early last fall on exploring the potential for a joint indoor recreation facility that would include indoor aquatics, tennis, gymnasia, program and community space and the required parking. Both organizations have identified needs for additional indoor recreation space, as well as community use space. We are early in the process. The firm Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D) was hired to conduct a market and feasibility study to determine the community needs, and to gauge whether Reston could support additional indoor recreation space. Please see the calendar below for important dates, and a proposed timeline.

No decisions have been made by either Board. Gathering community input is critical to the process, and this summer will focus on this effort. We look forward to hearing from as many members of both Reston Association and constituents of Reston Community Center (small district 5) as possible as we consider and evaluate the project.

Minutes of Joint Task Force and Focus Group meetings with Brailsford and Dunlavey
Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Plan Update is the report of PROS Consulting that updated RA's 1993 Recreation Master Plan. Included is the community-wide survey conducted during that effort.
Special Committee Report to RA Board of Directors - The RA Board chartered the Special Committee on Parks and Recreation Planning (SCPRP) to gather further community input on the PROS Plan recommendations.
Tennis Facility Location Study, 2007 - As part of the SCPRP work, RA hired Urban Ltd. to conduct an assessment of RA properties on which indoor tennis might be located.
RCC 2007 Citizen Survey, Report of Results - The RCC Board of Governors surveys the community to obtain information about public satisfaction with RCC programs and services. The 2007 survey was conducted by the University of Virginia’s Center for Survey Research. Results of these surveys help inform decision-making about RCC programs, policies and facilities.
