Philadanco has grown, since 1970, from a community arts organization
based in West Philadelphia to a dance company celebrated throughout the
world. Joan Myers Brown and her 17 dancers are famed for innovative
choreography, blending African-American dance with ballet, jazz, and
modern.

Damian’s note: We are lucky to have Philadanco here during their 40th Anniversary Season. This company is one of
the trailblazers of contemporary dance who are now giants of the dance community. In addition to their performance
on CenterStage, the company will also visit South Lakes High School to do a lecture/demonstration for the students
there.
