Out of Place is a site-situated installation and contemporary dance performance, inspired by the sculpture, architecture and history of the unique planned community of Reston, Virginia. Dance artist Sharon Mansur and Architect Ronit Eisenbach share a commitment to inquiry through making. The performance, a duet featuring Mansur and longtime collaborator Daniel Burkholder will activate the environment through human actions and interactions. Eisenbach's constellation of floating frames drawn across the harbor with tensile lines will harness the sun's energy and release it at night to create a landscape of luminous hovering color in the lake.

The performance will be immediately followed by a talk-back and reception at the Reston Museum.

About the Artists

Ronit Eisenbach is a visual artist and architect whose creative and scholarly efforts are located at their intersection. With an extensive resume of collaborative efforts and exhibitions throughout the U.S. and the world, Eisenbach is a member of the University of Maryland Architecture faculty and a 2011 MacDowell fellow. Sharon Mansur is a Washington, D.C. area based experimental multi-media dance artist. Her choreographic and improvisational works have been presented throughout the U.S. and abroad at traditional, alternative and site-specific venues. Originally from Boston, MA, Mansur is currently is on the dance faculty at the University of Maryland in the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies. Learn more at www.mansurdance.com.
